“Finlandia” by Sakari Kuosmanen. Originally composed by Jean Sibelius, “Finlandia” is a stirring and emotive anthem that captures the profound beauty, resilience, and spirit of the Finnish landscape and its people. Sakari Kuosmanen’s rendition lends a soulful voice to this classic, emphasizing the deep love and patriotic pride Finns feel for their homeland.

“Rakkauslaulu” by Fredi. “Rakkauslaulu” captures the essence of love and the emotions that come with it. Like many of Fredi’s songs, it’s characterized by its heartfelt lyrics, memorable melodies, and the distinct, emotive quality of Fredi’s voice. The song delves into themes of love, devotion, and the intimate moments shared between loved ones.

“Nemo” by Nightwish. “Nemo” is Latin for “nobody,” and the song deals with themes of loneliness, longing, and existential despair.  The song features vocals by Tarja Turunen, who was the band’s lead vocalist at that time.

“Myrskyluodon Maija” by Lasse Mårtensson. “Myrskyluodon Maija” takes listeners on an emotional journey. It’s a piece that has resonated deeply with Finns, becoming synonymous with the archipelago’s beauty and the resilience of its inhabitants. In essence, “Myrskyluodon Maija” is not just a piece of music; it’s a reflection of a way of life and the deep connection between the Finnish people and their natural surroundings.

“Cha, cha, cha” by Käärijä. Käärijä represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, topping the public vote, and finishing in second place. “Cha cha cha” captures the essence of liberation and the human desire to momentarily escape life’s challenges. Drawing inspiration from weekend revelries, the song embodies the courage to dance without reservations, urging listeners to embrace joy and shrug off external judgments.

“Hard Rock Hallelujah” by Lordi. “Hard Rock Hallelujah” is an anthemic, high-energy rock song that blends elements of heavy metal with catchy pop hooks. The song became especially well-known after Lordi performed it at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006, where they won first place, making them the first hard rock entry to win the competition. “Ram pam pam” by Bess. “Ram pam pam” explores the tension between two people in a relationship who have different life goals and desires. The main theme in “Ram pam pam” is the need for personal freedom, and the inability to conform to someone else’s life plan. You are in charge of your own happiness.
